Hi! I'm Cheryl. This is my blog.
And I think I might start posting again.
In case you don't know, we moved. And if you don't know that, you probably don't know me and either have the wrong blog, or you're just so devoted to my witty and intelligent posting, you've continued to check in on our postless blog these past months.
On to the our life of four months ago!
We took the kids to Monster Jam!
Look how excited they are!!! (Ever noticed how you can't do two exclamation points !! It just looks weird.)
Probably because they were just realizing that we forgot earplugs and it was going to be painfully loud because their parents were too cheap to by them the overpriced ear protection sold at the show.
Here they are eagerly anticipating the show. Don't judge because my baby is still sporting a binky.
It was her
nap time. Seriously, folks. Stop judging. Just because I used to harshly judge everyone who allowed their toddler to still use a binky, doesn't mean it's right. Because it's wrong. And I'm not insecure about it at all.
Here are the cars before! Although, this is obviously an "after" for some.
And here are the trucks! Sadly, it's been so long I don't really remember. I do know the Grave Digger was there because he was Blake's favorite. Mine was Mohawk Warrior. You can't really tell in the photo, but the truck had a sweet mohawk. And at one point the driver was out of his truck and took off his helmet and he had a sweet mohawk as well. And I am still trying to figure out how he managed to have a mohawk that stuck up after being smooshed in a helmet for that long. Amazing.
This is a little more indicative of Lanaya's reaction to the show (ignore the binky, remember?). At first, the drivers just drove their trucks around in a circle over and over and, remember we forgot ear protection, it was
insanely loud. I know this because I was busy holding my hands over her ears as tight as humanly possible, so there were no hands to put over my own.
Apparently, it was still loud for her because she just trembled. And kept trembling. For several minutes. And I was thinking about all of those time I judged people who brought their small children to events that really weren't appropriate for them and I was starting to feel really badly about bringing her.
And then, about 10 minutes in, or so, she just lit up. She was yelling and screaming along with the crowd. And she was so happy and excited.
In fact, she got into it way more than any of the other kids. You can see from this pic that Blake was really going wild as well.
The guys who drive 4-wheelers. Or maybe 3-wheelers. Honestly, I don't remember. But it was a race and I didn't like the team who won and Blake thought the whole thing was staged anyway.
These were some crazy pogo stickers that jumped really high and probably did some tricks. I don't remember. (These first posts from April and May might be real thrillers)
Blake. Was. Loving. It.
Actually, he did. Just not when I was photoing apparently.
And this is the sad part. We did this, in part, because we wanted to do something fun for his birthday which was a little bit later in the month (we'll get there). As we were walking into the arena, he asked to be carried because his legs hurt. That should have been a clue, but we were hurrying to our seats. Then I touched him and he was
burning up. Every time I covered his ears, I felt so bad for him! He would have love love loved the event, but he just kind of tolerated it. Poor guy.
