TFRAART: Day 9

More fun on the water!

We rented a boat and went out for some quick fun, in between packing up to leave.  Here's Grandma with most of the kids.

Kensey, Austin, Blake, and the two youngest.

Trey was SO excited!  He loved how fast the boat went.

Vacationers' Tip:  When first trying out the tube, be sure to send the children out alone.

That way, when this happens, they are SUPER excited to get back on and try again.

Oddly, two of them decided they were done, but even odder still, the two who'd stayed on the boat decided to give it a shot.  And we all decided to sent Blake out to help weigh things down.

Trey got to ride up front with Grandma.

Vacationers' Tip:  When sending an adult out to weigh down the tube, send one out that actually weighs enough to do so!

They were positively thrilled when it went under again.  Especially, Kayli who'd been on it both times.

Can you see the look of pure delight on her face?

Fortunately, she perked up.  And Bryce rode like a champ.  He kept sitting up and waving like this and I was positive he was going to go flying off.  It's a miracle he didn't, really.

Madness overcame me, and I decided to join in the fun.

Blake kept telling me how great his dad was at making the tubing experience really "fun".  He definitely has speed boating skills, but it all depends on your interpretation of what "fun" really is.

For example, Blake thought standing would be fun.

Kayli and I thought his standing was terrifying.  I screamed.  She cried.

Way to go, Dad.

This was the part I liked best.  Just slowly trolling behind the boat.  Fun.

I look so hot here.

Sorry, it just needed to be said.  What else can I say?  Fear looks good on me.

And then we finished loading up the van and said our farewells again.  Thus, finishing the second of the "Two Family Reunions" and beginning the "Road Trip".

We decided to drive out through Yellowstone to give the kids one more chance to experience it.

And it did not disappoint.

This beast came lumbering right past us.  I was petrified.  As you can see in the rearview mirror, I was the one driving and that guy walked so close and looked right at me as he went past!  I really thought he was going to ram us.

Fortunately, after staring me down, he just kept slowly plodding on by.  Probably because he couldn't believe how attractive I looked as I stared back in terror.

Vacationers' Tip:  If you want to make it to your hotel by midnight read the estimated travel time thoroughly.  There is a big difference between 8 hours and 8 hours and 58 minutes.  And then double the amount of time it will take to travel through Yellowstone to allow for people stopping in the middle of the road every 3.6 miles to stop and gaze at the wildlife and seriously slowing you down.

TFRAART: Day 8

For those of you still worried about the eye:

This is what it looked like the following morning.  He couldn't open it at all.  His long eyelashes even curled up around where it pinched shut on them.  The funny thing is, he never seemed to notice it at all. But, I began to feel guilty for not being as worried as everyone else, so we drove an hour round trip to find him some Children's Benadryl.  And the swelling began going down from there on out.

Hooray for Target!  We discovered that these two cute cousins had matching jammies.  Along with plenty of other matching items.

My sister-in-law Kensey had all these cute crafts for the kids.  This one involved making airplanes from dry noodles.  So cute!  The kids loved it.  Thanks, Kensey!

Blake's sweet grandparents.  Thanks for organizing this!

And then they broke out the jet ski.  Austin took the little boys out.

I put it off as long as I could, but eventually, Blake talked me into going out with him.  On the jet ski, that is.  He promised not to throw me off.

He barely kept that promise.

No worries, I got even when we went out again later in the day.  I somehow managed to hit a wave just right so it went up and over us, rather than the other way around.  Although, since I was driving, I took the worst of it.  The wall of water hit so hard, I was momentarily blinded (kept right on driving, though--I'm so clear headed in panicky situations) and choked for several minutes.

Yay.

More fun crafting.  This time provided by Aunt Cheri.  I love the concentration going on here.

Even Grandma got in on this craft!

Kensey took all the little girls.  Kayli loved it!

Freaky!  Even freakier when one of them actually turned it on!  Fortunately, Uncle Austin intervened before they could get too far.

Kayli was stoked to ride with Grandma.

And the boys had fun with Grandpa.

Marshmallow roasting = Delight

Ah, I've said it before and I'll say it again.  I LOVE his face.

TFRAART: Day 7

Okay, so you can probably expect excessive amounts of photos for the remaining Two Family Reunions and A Road Trip (TFRAART) posts.

Our second full day at the cabin was another day full of fun!

In the morning we went canoeing and kayaking.  Blake with the girls.

Kensey and Austin with the boys.

Braving the cold cold water!

Freezing and questioning the wisdom of going for that swim.

Our kids' cute cousins.

Jumping in with Daddy.

Blake's face says it all

Getting up the courage to jump in.

Catch me, Daddy!

Jumping in with Uncle Austin.

And then Trey woke up from his nap.  The mosquito bite I'd noticed on his eyebrow that morning seemed to have morphed a bit.

Hello, Quasimodo!

That afternoon we took the canoes down the river.  I thought he'd hate the life jacket, so I had to get a picture of him looking so happy in it.  It was the only one.

I still don't know how Kensey and Austin managed to keep their boat upright with all of these kids walking around!

The raft.  What a great crew!

Still mad about the life jacket.

This was the only way to keep him happy.  You can probably guess where this is going to end up, though.

Yeah, right as I turned around to snap another picture, Trey started to fall in.  Thankfully, Blake has the reflexes of a cat and pulled him back into the canoe before he fell all the way in.

He was still ridiculously mad about getting his hair wet.

This happy little man took a turn in every canoe and the raft.

And even Grandpa's kayak.

Christian rowing the canoe.  So cute!

Meanwhile, the eye growth kept morphing.  Some people were starting to get a little alarmed at this point.
