We've been meaning to take the kids to the Winter Quarters Temple since we moved here nearly 5 years ago.
Fortunately, a friend of ours wanted to see it too.
So, we finally made the journey
It was cold, so we didn't walk around much, but I was happy to have my children feel the spirit that surrounds a temple of the Lord.
Then we headed over the Trail Center across the street and learned more about the journey, trials, and faith of the Mormon Pioneers.
That's our friend on the left. The missionaries met us up here and they were all pretty pleased to don some sweet (worn out) pioneer headwear.
She's so pretty! And excited to try out the comfy bunk, like would have existed on one of the ships used by pioneers to cross the ocean from England.
While Bryce showed how enthusiastically he would have pulled our hand cart.
And she did was she does best--look adorable.
Did you know that every year we have an indoor picnic, to chase away the winter blues?
This year we watched "The Crudes" to round out the fun.
And Lanaya discovered the cowboy boots I purchased for her. They're two sizes too big, but now that she has them, she insists on wearing them nearly every day.
Other clothing is optional, as you can see.
And they make for good potty training attire as well.
