Musical Talents

The kids had their Spring Recital.

They did great.

I took terrible pictures.

And Lanaya surprised us by sharing the obsession of the rest of the world (before we even watched "Frozen").

She used to sing this song all the time.  So cute.  But, as she does in the middle of the this video, she now refuses to sing with a "no go" every time we ask.

April Fool's Foodie

You may have noticed that food is kind of the way I celebrate most special days.

April Fool's is one of my favorites of those.

This was breakfast.  Eggs and juice.  Aka:  Yogurt, apricots, and Jell-O.

You never know how a change in routine will effect this one.  Fortunately, he thought it was awesome.

So, did she.

This was lunch.  Pretty run of the mill.  Except I sealed their containers shut and swapped out the cookies in the Chips Ahoy package for some baby carrots.  Bryce thought it was funny.  Kayli thought it was mean.  But, at least she said that with a smile.

After school snack.

Sushi for dinner.

I'm really sad about how these turned out.  But, at least the kids thought it tasted yummy.

And dessert.  Pizza "Cake".  The kids were a lot more excited about how it looked than they were about how it tasted.

Bummer.

But, they look forward to the silly food every year, fails and all.

A Long Overdue Lanaya Post

I guess pretty much any post would count as long overdue at this point.

But, you've been missing out on so much sweetness from our little pumpkin.

Like the night she made up this apple face game.

He loves his little sister and her antics.

And the other kids couldn't resist joining in the fun.

And then the apple became a phone.  "Ahwohw?"

I pretty much love everything she says and the way she says it.

I want you... in the Apple Mouth Gang!

And then the weather warmed up enough to step into the backyard.

Once winter hits, I honestly don't do that.  At all.  I forget what our backyard even looks like.  And when you're not quite two, you don't even remember ever being out there.

So, even being out there in ridiculous amounts of wind is still exciting.

It does get a little annoying when you're trying to mow the dead lawn, however.

And this is how she has to be tucked into bed now.  "Bebe", "Puppy", and two blankies.  She insists on holding a tag from each blanket in her fists.

I love her SO MUCH.

Aw, Shoot.

We like to go out.

But, we're not the biggest fans of just "Dinner and a Movie".

So, Blake set up a date night at the shooting range.

Pretty excited to show me the ropes.

Apparently, my excited and nervous face involves a crinkled nose.  I was pretty nervous.  Mostly that I'd forget the rules and shoot someone behind me.

Our fun companion for the evening.

First Time Shooters' Tip:  Don't wear high heeled boots.  It kind of offsets your posture.

Blake ended up being pretty good.

Not really surprising.  Because he has some experience.  And he's just a talented guy.

We didn't get a photo of his target.  It looked a lot better than this.

Good thing I'm packing my own guns.

Bryce's St. Birth Patty's Day

Bryce's birthday happens to fall on St. Patrick's Day.  He embraces that with every fiber of his being.  Sometimes he even wishes we'd named him Patrick.

Not kidding.

This is the outfit he put together for the big day.

We went to Texas Roadhouse for dinner.  He was pretty excited to sit on the saddle and wear the hat.  Until it happened.  And then I think he felt a little embarrassed.  Rare for him.

Instead of cake, he requested Banana Cream Pie.  Which ended being an epic fail.  Sad because I have successfully made these before.  But he is a champ and was very gracious about it.

Blake got him a cap gun.  You can see how he felt about that.

Kayli was repulsed by the idea of violence.  Trey felt more contemplative about it.

And she just reveled in her disheveledness.

I love this kid.  So.  Much.

Happy Birthday, my Brycie Boo!  We love you so much!  You are creative.  So creative.  I can't even understand half of the things you create and design and all that they are capable of.  You are so sweet.  You always know when I need a hug, or a 'thank you', or just to be told that I look pretty.  Your little sister Lanaya adores you.  You are such a great older brother for her.  You amaze us at every turn.  We love you!
